Questions Lawyers are Asking About Paid Ads Management
Why Do I Need To Pay Someone To Run My Law Firm's Paid Ads Campaigns?
Because successful paid advertising for lawyers requires more than setting a budget and turning on an ad. A good paid ads manager continuously evaluates where your money is going, which audiences and searches are producing qualified leads, and which platforms are actually appropriate for your practice area.
For law firms, that last part matters. Not every firm needs PPC, LSAs, and Meta Ads. The right mix depends on your practice area, location, competition, budget, and how prospective clients typically find legal services.
An experienced paid advertising partner can help you:
- Choose the right platforms. A personal injury firm competing for high-intent local searches may benefit heavily from PPC and LSAs, while a firm focused on estate planning may have different opportunities across search, LSAs, and Meta.
- Prioritize your budget. Instead of spreading your budget thinly across every available channel, we identify where you have the strongest opportunity to generate qualified leads.
- Target the right searches and audiences. Not every click is valuable. We distinguish high-intent prospects from searches and audiences that are unlikely to become clients.
- Control wasted spend. Negative keywords, geographic targeting, bid adjustments, search-term analysis, audience exclusions, and campaign structure all affect how efficiently your budget is used.
- Continuously improve performance. Paid advertising isn’t a set-it-and-forget-it service. Campaigns need ongoing analysis, testing, and optimization as the data tells us what is and isn’t working.
- Connect advertising to actual business results. We look beyond clicks and impressions to understand which campaigns are generating calls, forms, consultations, and qualified opportunities.
If My Law Firm Starts PPC Today, How Fast Will I Start Getting New Leads?
While the specifics can vary, paid advertising can begin generating clicks as soon as your campaign launches. That’s one of the biggest differences between paid advertising for lawyers and search engine optimization: there is no little-to-no lag as you wait for your campaign to obtain visibility. You get to skip to the front of the queue.
How quickly qualified leads arrive, however, depends on a number of factors: your practice area, location, competition, budget, search volume, targeting, and how well the campaign converts.
For some law firms, qualified inquiries can begin arriving within days of launch. For others, especially in highly competitive markets, it can take longer to gather enough data to maximize a campaign’s performance.
But we put just as much effort into optimizing a paid ad campaign as we do our SEO campaigns. Once a campaign is live, we monitor each stage of that process and use the data to improve it:
- Are the right people seeing the ads? We evaluate keywords, search terms, audiences, and geographic targeting.
- Are they clicking? We analyze ad messaging and adjust campaigns where the wrong searches or audiences are consuming budget.
- Are they converting? We evaluate landing pages, calls, forms, and other conversion points to identify opportunities to improve.
- Are they qualified? We get your feedback lead quality to determine which campaigns, keywords, and audiences are actually producing worthwhile opportunities.
Do I Need To Do Paid Ads For Both PPC and LSA?
If your budget allows for both, we do generally recommend using PPC and Local Services Ads together. They give your law firm two different ways to capture high-intent prospects who are actively looking for legal services, but they work differently and offer distinct advantages.
PPC gives you greater control and flexibility. You can target specific searches, practice areas, locations, and landing pages, while shaping the message prospective clients see before they reach your website.
LSAs give you a prominent local presence and a direct path to contacting your firm. They are particularly well suited to law firms because prospective clients can see your firm’s information, reviews, and service details while searching for legal help in their area.
Using both allows you to approach high-intent search from multiple angles rather than relying on a single advertising format.
That doesn’t mean every firm should divide its budget equally between the two. We look at your market, practice areas, competition, budget, and performance to determine how much emphasis each channel deserves. In some markets, PPC may be the stronger opportunity. In others, LSAs may produce exceptional results.
Should My Law Firm Advertise On Meta Or LinkedIn?
It depends on how your prospective clients make decisions, who they are, and where they’re most likely to spend their time. If your audience tends to find themselves urgently or unexpectedly in need of legal advice, PPC and LSAs are better suited for your needs. If your audience is slower to make a decision, has the benefit to search at their convenience, and can be identified by demographics, interests, industries, or professional roles, Meta or LinkedIn may be valuable additions.
That’s because PPC and LSAs primarily capture existing intent, Meta and LinkedIn can reach potential clients earlier in the decision-making process, before they’re actively searching for a lawyer.
Meta may make sense if you want to:
- Build awareness around a practice area
- Reach a specific demographic or geographic audience
- Educate potential clients about a legal issue
- Stay in front of prospects who aren’t ready to contact a lawyer
- Remarket to people who have already interacted with your firm
LinkedIn may make sense if you want to:
- Reach business owners and executives
- Target specific industries or professional roles
- Build awareness among a professional audience
- Promote services with longer consideration periods
For The Legal Industry, How Much Should I Spend On A Paid Ads Campaign?
We recommend a minimum paid advertising budget of $5K per month. Below that level, it can be difficult to generate enough traffic and conversion data to give a campaign the room it needs to perform effectively, particularly in competitive legal markets.
That doesn’t mean every firm should spend the same amount. Your ideal budget depends on the opportunity in your market and the goals you’re trying to achieve. A $5K budget may be an appropriate starting point for one firm and far too little for another.
We’ll work together to determine the budget that is right for you, based on several factors:
- Your practice area
- Geographic market
- Competition and cost per click
- Search volume and available demand
- The number of cases or clients you want to generate
- Which platforms you’re using
